As a part of the Healthy Living class, students are tasked with researching plant-based recipes that correspond with Dr. Greger's Daily Dozen Checklist. The purpose of this activity is to get students thinking about a variety of meals that can be incorporated into their diets that also appeal to their own personal taste preferences. It also allows them to learn how to source a variety of recipes online by visiting the vast selection of plant-based recipe blogs. Students are tasked with finding the types of foods and dishes they are most interested in, staying within the parameters of the assignment (i.e. finding recipes that highlights beans as a main ingredient), and submit at minimum one recipe that interests them.
When deciding to change your diet, it is important to understand how you make changes and adapt within your own personal comfort zone and taste preferences. Students learn how to utilize the amazing resources online provided by passionate people willing to share their culinary creativity with us in a healthy way. Please follow the above links to view the recipes selected by the students in my Healthy Living class.
